Transcription Assistant
Job Description:
Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a Transcription Assistant to join their team in Spokane Valley, WA. For over 50 years, Cancer Care Northwest has been the Inland Northwest’s leading cancer center, providing a comprehensive approach to diagnosing, treating, and healing cancer and blood-related diseases. As a Transcription Assistant, you will be an integral part of the administrative team, ensuring accurate and timely transcription of medical records, reports, and correspondence for the physicians and healthcare providers at the clinic.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where attention to detail and confidentiality are paramount. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, a background in transcription or medical office work, and a commitment to providing high-quality support in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Medical Transcription: Accurately transcribe medical records, including patient histories, progress notes, and treatment plans, ensuring all documentation is clear and precise.

Documentation Management: Format, input, edit, retrieve, copy, and transmit patient text, data, and graphics as required.

Correspondence Management: Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence for assigned physicians, ensuring all communication is processed and distributed correctly.

File and Office Maintenance: Maintain accurate and organized patient files and manage office equipment.

Deficiency Tracking: Track provider documentation deficiencies according to established guidelines to ensure complete and timely medical records.

Confidentiality: Adhere to patient confidentiality protocols and maintain the security of sensitive patient information at all times.

General Office Support: Assist with various administrative tasks and special projects as requested by the assigned physician or manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.

Medical Terminology Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology is essential for accurate transcription.

Transcription Experience: Previous experience in a medical office or transcription role is preferred.

Technical Skills: Comfortable with computer systems, transcription software, and general office equipment.

Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for maintaining accurate patient records.

Confidentiality: A deep understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations is essential to protect patient information.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications:

Education: An Associate’s Degree or some college-level education is preferred.

Medical Office Experience: Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Transcription Experience: Prior transcription experience is a plus.

Anatomy and Physiology Knowledge: Courses in anatomy, physiology, and disease processes are desirable.

Pharmacology Knowledge: Basic understanding of pharmacology is beneficial.

The pay for this role ranges from $17.50 to $24.50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position, and we are looking for a reliable, motivated individual who is passionate about contributing to the healthcare field.
